Mike Craver: Musician, and for many years the piano player in the Red Clay Ramblers, one of the best bluegrass and American roots bands. They have been closely associated with Sam Shepard, and appeared in several of his plays and featured on the soundtracks for his films.

Mike wrote a wonderful little song called “Fishing for Amour,” which is the title of his only solo LP.

I drove all night from Knoxville to North Carolina to hear the Red Clay Ramblers perform and meet Mike.

He wanted desperately to leave the South and move to NYC and become a new Noel Coward. I was fed up with my urban existence in New York; we both were at geographic crossroads.

I was exhausted from my long drive, I fell asleep as he serenaded me with “Fishing For Amour.”
