| Jennifer Warnes is an amazing singer and songwriter. She will probably be always remembered for two things. 1. Her mellow rock classic from the 1970s, ?The Right Time of 2. Personally resurrecting the songs of Leonard Cohen with her brilliant CD, "Famous Blue Raincoat." But Jennifer is so much more. I first met her in the late 1960s. She had become the star of the West Coast production of Hair and was appearing on the Smothers Brothers TV show. One day, sitting in her little stucco bungalow, she was composing as I was drawing her. At the same moment she sighed aloud, "I always wished I could draw," at which point I sighed my inner most secret wish... to be able to sing. An important part of Jennifer's creativity is not just possessing an incredible voice, but her ability to write about the complexities of love in a very simple and pure vocabulary. She is very much the poet, and a voice so pure. Every time I here her sing, I get lost in the trees! |
