Barbara Nessim 2005

Barbara has been my steady mentor, and Goddess of all things visual since 1969 when I saw her amazing art in New York Magazine.

I hated her drawings at first, hated them because they were so brilliant. I had never seen anything like them, I wrote her, "Dear Barbara, I think I love You!" She called me a week later, I fell off my inflatable chair when she invited me to visit her in New York.

Over the years, Barbara told me to become an art director, told me to stop partying and go home and do my art. She gave me the keys to her studio to play on her computer (when they were still new and scary to art directors of a certain age).

She is now head of the illustration department at Parsons School of Design in NYC. And I still love her!
